Installing & Removing Sharps Containers into IDC Medical Security Safes
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
YA23L - Steel Security Safe
Your YA23L Security Safe is supplied with an IDC 23 litre Sharps Container (RE20LR) already installed in the Safe.
Before using the Safe for the first time please follow the instructions, making sure that the aperture at the top of the Sharps Container is not obstructed by the attached 'Final Closure' (red) - this might occur in transit during delivery.
FIRSTLY:
Please read the instruction sheet (yellow) - assembly and use of the Sharps Container (RE20LR). Note: The biohazard label determines the front of the Sharps Container. Fit the lid to the base so that the attached 'Final Closure' is orientated opposite to the front of the container.
FITTING A SHARPS COLLECTOR INTO THE SAFE:
- Safe door opens with key provided.
- Place Sharps Container inside the Safe with handle positioned over the front of the Container. The handle in this position makes it easier to remove the Container when full.
- The 'Final Closure' (red) positioned upright and behind the chute mechanism of the Safe. Please Note: Make sure that the 'Final Closure' does not obstruct the opening in the top of the Sharps Container - otherwise, when syringe packs are deposited into the Safe they will not fall unimpeded into the Sharps Container.
## If the Sharps Container is installed correctly into the Safe, syringe packs will deposit directly into the Sharps Container every time without fail. ##
- The Safe is now ready to use and must be locked.
WHEN THE SHARPS COLLECTOR IS FULL (OR MUST BE REPLACED)
- Ensure Sharps Container is safe to remove.
- Once removed from the Safe, fit the Sharps Container with the 'Fingerguard'. The 'Fingerguard' fits directly into the lid opening (refer to Sharps Container instructions).
- FIRMLY press the 'Final Closure' into the 'Fingerguard' aperture.
- The Sharps Container is now LOCKED and ready for safe transport to the place of final disposal.
- Empty Sharps Container can now be fitted to the Security Safe.
For your personal protection, and the safety of others . . .
Please remember that: Polymer products, although puncture resistant, are not entirely puncture proof. Always follow the guidelines set down by the Infection Control Association (or equivalent). A sharps collector should never be filled above the indicator fill line. An article must Never be forced into a Sharps collector. Syringes must Never, Ever, be deposited into a Sharps collector with the needle pointing upwards. |
